Free Peel Away Ad Script

Free Peel Away Ad Script

Everyone is talking now about peel away ads because of the recent adtoll introduction of these kind of ads on their ad types.

If you don’t know what a peel away ad is, just check the top right corner :)

Peel away ads is a new kind of ad. Well… Not that new. It was created 2 years ago, but any way… Peel Away ads are a non intrusive, eye catchy, high CTR kind of ad. It is the most appealing ad you can get on the web. Who visits a site with a peel away ad, gets curious on what is beneath the peel, so they check it, and most likely will click on it. :)

I have been offering peel away ads for about a month now (the promo spot was taken ;)), and as i said, i would show you how to have a peel away ad on your own site.

There are paid scripts around, but what we all want is free stuff, right? So the script im using here to run the peel ads is a free one.

This wordpress script is called Pageear. It’s version 1.2, and although it has not all the capabilities of the paid scripts, it does the job well.

Features:

  • Place it on the left or right upper corner
  • Open and close automaticly after X seconds
  • Speed of the small pageear could be changed
  • Flashcheck (Adobe© Flash Detection)
  • Reflecting image on corner
  • Color of the pagecorner
  • Link target on external side or own (self, new)
  • Downwardcompatibly up to Flashversion 6
  • Runs on nearly all Browser (FireFox, InternetExplorer, Opera, Safari, etc.)

It is easy to install. Just Unzip it, upload the files to your wordpress plugin directory and activate it.

Then, just edit the options, create your images to use (a 100×100 and a 500×500 jpg image), and there you have. A peel way ad on your blog for free!

Nope..wordpress plugin contains 1 extra php file which makes it works like a wordpress plugin. The link you gave is totally manual and made for normal html and php sites.

Sweet! Was on johnchow.com and the peel-away ad script was ‘on special’ for almost $40 :(
I prefer free and will proceed to drop a donation to the developer!

the owner will appreciate the gesture :)

As soon as i saw that johnchow was selling the script, and i thought that it would be good to tell that there are free alternatives. :)

from the same developers, unfortunally it is not the greatest way to make an online profit.

Hello guys. We are the creators of the original and affordable Peeling Away Ads. These can be used for any type of web site, even non WP sites. Our product isn’t free however but because it’s Version 2 but it gives you total control over your peel positioning. You can place it in any corner or your site. At the top OR the bottom of your page. Right or left, it doesn’t matter. Enjoy ~Richard

Is this compatible with IE? Because I saw some page peel plugin or wordpress and it can’t be seen when using IE.

i had no trouble with internetexplorer. there are some scripts that are buggy on IE, but i haven’t noticed that in this plugin
