Creating mini sites - Part 1 - Software to use

Hello! As mentioned yesterday, im going to start a series of “how to create a mini site”. I have covered this subject a few times, and showed you how to create them using some scripts or software like Commonsense CMS, Rssmini 1.3, HyperVRE (which promised to be a great tool but in fact sucked).

I have 2 new tools to try out. But for now let’s stick with one. I really hope this new tool is way better than the previous ones. This tool takes in consideration that it helps you creating a mini site easy and fast, but it does not help you create the content. It’s up to you to create the content. Don’t fall in temptation to copy other site content and don’t use rss feed to fill you pages. Use your own created content, your own words.

So, what tool am i talking about?

19pages. Have you ever heard of it? It’s a software created by the guys at 45n5 that will help you deploy a mini site real easy, real fast!

So 19 pages? yeah, the software is limited to 20 pages and 19 articles. It’s a mini site…. it is not supposed to have many pages! :p

Here is a quick presentation of the software:

19 pages
So what’s good about it?

  1. It’s easy to install. Just upload to your host, edit the config.php file and there is no need for a database.
  2. It’s easy to use. You have only what you need for. A place to write your articles and a place to add tags.
  3. SEO friendly

All right now that we have a software to use, the next step is finding the niche mini site we want to use. And for that we need to do some keyword researching.

That, my friends, i’ll leave it for Creating mini sites - Part 2. Stay tuned ;)

I’am curious to see what you say about this program. I hope you say what’s the best for you.I know how to make mini websites but i have to make all by hand. If there are a good program that will make it a lot easier.

Hi and how are you today?

Can you please be so kind to explain what to do once you download 19pages.com? Once I have downloaded 19pages and I open it there are a million files and folders. I don’t understand how to get all of that onto my computer. Also if I ever manage to get this software properly installed to my computer and I am able to create a minisite I am going to need to upload the minisite to a hosting provider. How do I go about uploading everything to a hosting account?

Thank you so much in advance for any help and advice that you can offer me. :-)
